Well, here I am...a newbie in the blogosphere. My inaugural entry will be a brief synopsis about my SA.
I was first diagnosed three years ago, although I have been living with it for most of my life. I was put on meds and saw a psychotherapist who worked with me on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which together helped me get my life back.
Then when 2007 started I began getting daily anxiety symptoms and found that things I could finally do and enjoy I could no longer partake in (i.e. lunches at work, meetings with co-workers, etc.). So I went to my doctor and she upped my dosage and referred me to a new therapist. Except this time my therapist is more focused on Mindfulness and living in the present as a way of working through my SA. So far I have only seen her twice, but I have also started reading two great books called "Full Catastrophe Living" and "Wherever You Go There You Are" by Jon Kabat-Zinn. They are fantastic. A little difficult to get into initially, but great reads, and they definitely help explain the philosophy behind mindful meditation in everyday life. I highly recommend them.
I have also been given the opportunity by my manager to work from home while I am dealing with this again. So far that has been going well. I'm just so frustrated with this. I just want to get my life back and be able to do all those things I used to. It's such an uphill battle. :(
