
This blog seems to be diverging more and more from the course of social-anxiety related topics, but, it is still my favourite storage space for my thoughts, so I shall continue. It all bears relevance anyway, as I am solving the problems of the mind as a whole!
I realized today what Adyanshanti was talking about when he said that only the mind creates problems; that the negative reaction only occurs subsequent to your negative thought. If you stop the thought, you stop the negativity cold.
I tried it today. My mom asked me to come down and help cut out some green peppers to stuff with meat, and of course I dislike doing any of that stuff. So that's what I said in my mind...but when I climbed down to the foot of the stairs, I had a sudden recollection of Adyanshanti's teaching, and I tried it. It worked! All I had to do was stop thinking that I disliked emptying the cores of the green peppers out, and suddenly I didn't feel negative anymore, and actually enjoyed it. The mind created the entire problem, and I was left wondering whether it was true that all of the problems in one's life are really just created by an insane mind, that seems to attach itself to conflict and aversion in order to maintain a twisted sense of identity (as is also taught by the spiritual teachers - Adyashanti, Eckhart Tolle). Ah well, I'll figure that one out later.
Its definately necessary to be aware in order to even notice that you are being negative in the first place. People honk their horns on the highways, yell at others, and by the end of the day, perhaps they will think about what they did when they should have thought first and then acted later. Think first then act, right? It turns out that often times thought IS A REACTION IN ITSELF, and the only way to see the thought in progress is to be aware of it as it arises. Then you can truly see the problems, and see yourself as you really are.
